Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Knowlesdge Village are neighboring free zone areas located between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Sufuoh Road across from the Palm Jumeirah that were developed by TECOM Investments on behalf of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA). Unlike Tecom C, firms operating in these three purpose built areas need to be licensed by DTMFZA to lease office space. While Dubai Internet City is for information technology firms, Dubai Media City is targeted at the media business including marketing services, printing, publishing and new media among others. Knowledge Village is a purpose built free zone for higher education. The area has emerged as the region’s leading business hub for the information technology, media and education industries. Its location benefits from its proximity to Sheikh Zayed Road as well as being serviced by two stops on the Dubai Metro.
Offices in Dubai Media City are home to major media firms like ITP Publishing Group, BBC, CNN and Thomson Reuters. While multinational firms like Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Dell, Cisco Systems, University of Wollongong, and London School of Economics (LSE) maintain stations in the adjacent Dubai Internet City and Knowledge Village. Some of the most notable buildings of the project include Concord Tower, Arenco Tower and Shatha Tower.
